2013 tour is behind me. Relieved but a little sad it's over for this year.....

Well it's over. 250 miles. An unforgettable four days riding through France. Some of it beautiful, some of it akin to riding along the A3! I didn't expect to be riding in 37 degree heat, UK training certainly cannot prepare you for that. I love the sun but I was crying out for shade. Thank you very much to my lovely husband for the Surrey Hills training which paid off big time and thank you to to my fellow middle age women in Lycra. I will never forget the miles, the camaraderie, the team work, the punctures, picking up a fellow team mate from a ditch, re-discovering my eternity ring on a French village road whilst rescuing my remaining precious rings from slipping off my fingers, the recovery rose, the sweat, the pain, the volterol, my increasing knowledge of bike mechanics, the cries of "car" "clear" "lorry" "bastard hill" "my garmin's happy" "we're off course" "we're back on course" "where the hell is Heric?" "what's our average mph?" and the laughter. Thanks guys, next year is already in the planning. Now for some down time (and that doesn't mean descent!) with my lovely family. Xxx
